IDEA I’M PONDERING
I drive the same route most days. Over the past few months, I've noticed a huge increase in beggars along the way. Every traffic light has at least one, and many have multiple.
This isn't uncommon on a South African street, but as I drove, I realised something:
I overlook the role of luck in my life. I spend a lot of my time - far too much, in fact - thinking about the career I wish to have, the life I want to live, and the things I aim to achieve. It's easy to look at these things as signs of stress, responsibility or pressure - but aren't I incredibly lucky that those are the things I get to spend time thinking about? A different stroke of luck could very easily have put me in the position of those beggars. Instead of thinking about the next career move, I’d be wondering where my next meal is coming from, or whether I'll be alive in 24 hours.
LISTENING & RE-LISTENING
The talent and diversity of musicians never ceases to amaze me.
A great friend of mine reminded me of a band called Rainbow Kitten Surprise. Give them a listen, they’ve got some absolute gems. This is a favourite of mine.
QUESTION I’M ASKING MYSELF
“Am I taking the time to appreciate the people and the things around me?”
Catch you next Tuesday,
//Side note. If you like what I do, please share this with a friend - it really helps.
Thank you for the music recommendation!
